THOUGHTS ON PAINTING
In the center of the orange, white, pink and green colors making up the background of this piece is an iron. The iron has a thick layer of rust coating it which contrasts sharply against the pleasant colors behind it. The Time painting is representative of change and transformation, as an iron is great at transforming a wrinkled garment into something pretty and presentable. The rust on the iron changes things, leading the viewer to believe that perhaps the change has not been for the better. Rust is symbolic of unused potential and neglect. It is also a sign of aging and the way our minds and bodies change as we do.
