THOUGHTS ON PAINTING

White is the color of cleanliness, purity, fresh new beginnings, and life. Artist Sergey Rybak has brought this image of a white city to light by enthralling it in a world of surrounding colors and reflecting light, giving the white walls of the layered city and its colored fringes a certain mystic feel. The viewer wonders whether the city is real or something out a fairy tale and the muted, varied colors blend together, attracting the viewer’s look first here, then there, then back here again. This is one of those paintings that never gets old to admire and that we might find something new in every time we catch a glimpse of it in the entrance to our home.
